12 Jun 2022

  • Live Finals of the Global Sim Racing Series to take place across two-day spectacle at Yas Mall in July.
  • Drivers will face-off over 5 weeks for their chance to reach the live finals, with a prize pool topping £100,000 up for grabs in a dramatic conclusion to Abu Dhabi Gaming Month.

The World Finals of the V10 R League is set for its grand finale this summer in Abu Dhabi, with the live eSports competition kicking off at Yas Mall on Friday 22nd July for the final rounds of the sim racing series to crown this season’s champion.

Held in partnership with Miral Group, Abu Dhabi Gaming and Etihad Airways, this year’s finale event will be one of the first in esports globally to return to in person competition in front of live audiences since the Covid crisis hit in 2020. The semi-finals, bronze medal match and final of the unique racing league will be played in the iconic Yas Mall on the 22nd and 23rd July.

The competition, now in its third season, will feature some of the biggest names in Sim racing including Mercedes AMG Esports, Red Bull Racing Esports, Aston Martin eSports and the local team of YAS HEAT from Abu Dhabi. Extensive coverage of the full 2022 season will feature live and in full on BT Sport in the UK, while fans around the world can follow the season via livestream across all events on the V10 R-League social channels.

The teams for the 2022 season will compete over five weeks of online group matches with the top four teams qualifying for the Yas Mall finals and the chance to compete for the lion share of a £100,000 prize pool in front of a general audience expected to be in the thousands over the two-day grand finale event.

As a regular feature in the training and development of the current and next generation of on-track driving talent across motorsports, Sim Racing allows drivers to replicate their driving performance via simulation in order to perfect their techniques and strategies for race day.

Through their participation in the V10 R League, drivers including the likes of former Aston Martin eSports driver, Lucas Blakeley who recently pipped 4-time F1 Champion Sebastian Vettel to the post in the 2021 Race of Champions on the ice in Sweden, while Team Redline driver Enzo Bonito left his mark in the same event in 2019 by beating a range of world class racers on track.

This season will see Mercedes, the current F1 Esports driver and constructor champions, join the V10 R League roster alongside Aston Martin, Red Bull, Ford (Team Fordzilla), Suzuki Jean Alesi, Team Redline, R8G Grosjean, BMW Motorsport, Williams Esports and the Yas Heat Team ahead of the series finale event held at Yas Mall this July. With a talented racing team, including the back-to-back F1 Esports Champion in Jarno Opmeer, this summer’s live finals will see sparks fly on the virtual track in Abu Dhabi.
